Bourne, MA

Bourne, Massachusetts is the youngest of the fifteen Cape Cod towns, but its roots can be traced back more than 350 years. In 1627, the Pilgrims established a regional trading post here, one of the earliest commercial ventures in the New World.

You can tour a replica of the Aptucxet Trading Post, which is built on the foundations of the original. Incorporated as a town in 1884, Bourne was soon put on the map as a vacation spot when Grover Cleveland spent his presidential summers at a mansion called Gray Gables.

Bourne comprises several quiet, scenic seaside villages, including Cataumet, Buzzards Bay, Pocasset, Sagamore and Monument Beach. It is also home to the nation’s oldest continuously operating maritime academy.
